Program to Document Living Conditions in Havana
Launched in April by Soutien Direct International in response to the rapidly changing situation in Cuba, the Program to Document Living Conditions in Havana aims to collect, organize, and analyze data directly in the field, among families living in precarious conditions.
This program was born out of a clear observation: the lack of recent, reliable, and accessible data on the actual living conditions of the population. In a context where information is often fragmented, difficult to verify, or not representative of everyday reality, it becomes essential to document what people are actually experiencing on the ground.
Launched as part of Soutien Direct International’s humanitarian efforts, this program is based on firsthand observations made during food basket deliveries. It provides a detailed record of the daily realities faced by local residents.
The information collected includes, in particular:
- household living conditions
- sources of revenue
- access to food
- access to water and electricity
- issues related to health and access to medicines
The goal is to build a reliable database grounded in on-the-ground realities, in order to better understand needs, track how they evolve over time, and contribute to a more accurate assessment of the situation in Havana.
Data is collected in a respectful and confidential manner.
This program aims to:
- support the humanitarian work of Soutien Direct International
- increase transparency for donors
- provide practical guidance to partners, organizations, and the media
In a world where our points of reference are becoming increasingly fragile, documenting has become a responsibility.
Understanding with precision to act more effectively.
