Solar Energy
Price range: $150.00 to $3,500.00
A system that provides greater autonomy
With an average cost of 3,500 Canadian dollars, each system includes a solar panel rated at approximately 600 watts, two EcoFlow batteries, wiring, the necessary mounting brackets, shipping, and installation.
The panel generates electricity during the day, and the batteries store some of it for later use. The runtime depends on sunlight, battery capacity, and the devices being used. Certain uses should be spread out throughout the day.
How Your Donation Makes a Difference for a Family
In Cuba, long power outages disrupt daily life. By contributing to a solar energy system, you’re helping a family regain the ability to:
- Store food in the refrigerator to minimize waste and keep food fresh longer;
- Cook using a compatible electric appliance in the event of a gas shortage, depending on the appliance's power rating and the available energy.
- To light up the house in the evening, to prepare a meal, to read, and to carry out essential activities;
- To enable children to study properly, with adequate lighting for reading, learning, and doing their homework;
- Using fans to help cope with the heat, sleep better, and reduce fatigue for both children and parents;
- Use a washing machine—depending on its energy consumption and the available power—to reduce the need for hand washing and lighten the daily workload;
- Charge your phones to stay in touch with loved ones.
Your contribution helps a family eat better, rest better, and provide their children with better conditions for studying despite power outages.
Every contribution, no matter how small or large, helps fund a system installed by Soutien Direct International for a vulnerable family in Cuba.
