More than 100 families supported in Cuba

Since February, Soutien Direct International has been active on the ground in Havana with a clear mission: to provide concrete, direct, and compassionate assistance to families living in precarious circumstances.

In less than two months, one thing is already clear:
we are now supporting more than 125 families.

This figure reflects rapid growth, but above all, it speaks to an organization that was built on a solid foundation from the very beginning.

A trained and dedicated local team

Today, our team consists of seven on-site volunteers, each of whom has been trained to strict standards. We have established a clear approach, with a specific framework to guide our actions.

This isn't just a quick fix. It's a thoughtful, compassionate, yet well-organized approach.

Every volunteer is trained to follow a considerate protocol during deliveries. It’s not just about handing over a food basket; it’s about establishing a respectful connection, listening attentively, and understanding each family’s situation without judgment.

Because help isn't just about what is given. It's also about how it is offered.

A rigorous selection of families

We have also implemented an assessment system to identify the most vulnerable families.

Each situation is analyzed, and a vulnerability score is assigned to prioritize interventions where the needs are most urgent.

This rigor allows us to act with precision. It ensures that we don’t just help, but that we help the right people at the right time.

Practical and direct assistance

In the field, each intervention takes the form of a simple act: the direct distribution of a food basket.

On average, a food basket provides enough food to support a family for nearly a month.

But behind this gesture lies a broader reality.

We encounter elderly people living alone, families struggling due to economic hardship, and situations where stability is extremely fragile. In Havana, where access to food depends almost entirely on the market, any difficulty can quickly become critical.

A presence that makes a difference

It is in moments like these that our presence truly matters.

We have chosen to work directly with families, without any intermediaries. This direct connection allows us to stay in touch with reality, adapt quickly, and build a relationship of trust.

Since February, Soutien Direct International has grown organically, driven by the connections we’ve made, the dedication of our team, and a shared commitment to acting with integrity.

A mission that continues to grow

Reaching more than 100 families is not an end in itself.

This milestone confirms that our approach is sound—one that is grounded in both people and a rigorous framework.

Above all, this milestone serves as a reminder that the need is still very much present.

We continue this mission with the same commitment we had on day one: to take concrete action, with respect, and make a real difference, one family at a time.
