The Canadian Embassy in Cuba recognizes the impact of Soutien Direct International with a $35,000 contribution and a solar-powered electric vehicle

June 30, 2026, will remain a memorable day for Soutien Direct International. It marks the recognition of our humanitarian mission in Cuba and the impact we are privileged to have on the most vulnerable families.

A Significant Recognition from the Canadian Embassy in Cuba

Given the current situation in Cuba, theCanadian Embassyin Cuba has taken a particularly meaningful step. Rather than holding the traditional Canada Day celebrations, it has chosen to replace them with a concrete gesture of solidarity with the Cuban people by supporting the mission of Soutien Direct International.

Through the Canadian Local Initiatives Fund (CLIF), our organization received a financial contribution of $35,000, as well as an electric vehicle powered by a solar system to support our humanitarian operations in the field.

This recognition means much more than just financial support. It demonstrates the trust placed in our mission, our approach to direct aid, and the tangible impact we have on Cuban families.

A second announcement that deeply moved our team

Just as our team was already experiencing a very emotional moment, a second announcement made the day even more special.

Nancy Lussier, vice president of Terracam/Novaterr, the official supplier of these vehicles, announced that her company was also donating a second electric vehicle and a trailer to support the deployment of our humanitarian operations in Havana.

Enhanced logistics to help more families

Thanks to this financial contribution and this new equipment, Soutien Direct International will be able to significantly improve its transportation logistics.

These resources will enable us to transport more food baskets, optimize our routes, reduce distribution times, and, above all, reach an even greater number of families living in precarious circumstances.

Canadian values truly come into their own

This day serves as a reminder of the power of Canadian values such as mutual aid, solidarity, and generosity.

Seeing these values translated into such concrete actions is a source of immense pride for our entire team. Beyond the financial contribution and the vehicles donated, this day represents a true recognition of our humanitarian mission and the impact we have on the Cuban people.

Thank you

Soutien Direct International would like to extend its warmest thanks to Her Excellency the Canadian Ambassador to Cuba, as well as the entire Embassy staff, for their trust, their exceptional hospitality, and their support for our mission.

Our sincerest thanks also go to Nancy Lussier, Vice President of Terracam/Novaterr, as well as her entire team, for this remarkable contribution, which will strengthen our humanitarian operations for years to come.

Finally, thank you to all our donors, partners, volunteers, and contributors in Canada, Quebec, and Europe. Your trust and generosity make each of our projects possible.

Together, we will continue to turn solidarity into concrete action and bring hope to more and more families. 🇨🇦❤️🇨🇺
