On May 25, 2026, François Marotte, founder of Soutien Direct International, appeared on Radio-Canada’s Midi info program with Alec Castonguay to discuss the current situation in Cuba and the human realities observed on the ground by the organization.
The interview addressed, in particular, the growing difficulties currently faced by a significant portion of the population in Havana: recurring power outages, challenges in accessing certain essential goods, water-related issues, the precarious living conditions of the vast majority of the elderly, as well as the concern felt by some citizens regarding the current geopolitical context and tensions surrounding a possible U.S. intervention.
